What is extra file in Robocopy? Extra files simply mean there are files in the destination that are not in the source. The /MOV option DOES delete files from the source because you are moving them from the source to the destination. Can Robocopy delete source files? It does not delete files from the source. Remember Robocopy ALWAYS copies from Source to Destination. How does Robocopy know a file has changed? A short answer is: the default value of Robocopy is (unless you specify something different via parameters) that it will copy any file where the Timestamp OR the file size differs.
